China is keen to establish a high speed railway between Kunming and Kolkata as part of its efforts to revive the ancient silk route,Via Myanmar and Bangladesh
“We are in favor of it. The high speed corridor would help the economies of Myanmar, and Bangladesh as well” said Li Ji Ming, vice secretary of Yunnan provincial government. Also from next month Shandog Airlines would start Flight Services from Kumang to New Delhi, Ming added.
China has pledged $40 billion for the silk route, having a trade potential of $132 billion. (Slik Route is a network of trade and cultural transmission routes that were central to cultural interaction through regions of the Asian continent connecting the West and East by merchants, pilgrims, monks, soldiers, nomads, and urban dwellers from China and India to the Mediterranean Sea during various periods of time).
